Terms of Service
Pilot version — 2026-09-04. These terms apply to buyers (accounts created via the API/dashboard). Contributors running the desktop app have a separate agreement, shown in the app itself.
1. What you're getting
An API that lets you route your own network requests through MeowByte's relay network, exiting through the connections of consenting contributors. Sessions are either rotating (a new exit node per request) or sticky (the same node held for a bounded window). We don't guarantee any specific node, location precision beyond what you request, or uptime for an individual session — see §5.
2. Accounts and access
- Every account starts unverified, capped at 1 GB/month. Identity verification (KYC) raises that cap — see the Privacy Policy for what verification involves.
- Your API key is your credential. Keep it secret; anyone with it can use your quota and see your usage. We don't currently offer self-service key recovery — a lost key means asking us to reissue one.
- We may suspend or terminate an account for violation of these terms, for suspected fraud or abuse, or for any reason related to network integrity or safety — with or without notice, at our discretion during this pilot.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the network to:
- Access, request, or attempt to access any destination we block — the network enforces a destination blocklist server-side, independent of your own client, covering categories including child sexual abuse material, malware command-and-control infrastructure, and known phishing/fraud infrastructure. Attempting to route to a blocked destination will simply fail; repeated attempts may result in suspension.
- Violate any law applicable to you or to the destination you're accessing.
- Attack, scan for vulnerabilities in, or attempt to disrupt any system you don't have explicit authorization to test.
- Misrepresent the origin of traffic in a way intended to defraud a third party (e.g. impersonating a specific real person or organization to that third party).
- Attempt to identify, contact, or deanonymize a specific contributor node or the person operating it.
You're responsible for your own compliance with the terms of any third-party service you access through the network — routing through MeowByte doesn't exempt you from a destination's own terms of service.
4. Billing
Bandwidth is metered in bytes actually relayed (up and down), measured at the ledger — not rounded up, not billed for idle sessions. During this closed pilot, verified tiers are provisioned manually rather than via self-serve checkout; the current pilot pricing is on the pricing page and may change with notice before general availability. Unverified accounts on the free tier aren't billed.
5. No warranty; no SLA
This service is provided "as is," during an active pilot phase. We don't guarantee any specific level of uptime, latency, or node availability for an individual session — contributor nodes connect and disconnect based on real people's real internet connections, which we don't control. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including business losses from service interruption.
6. Data
What we collect from your account and how we use it is covered in the Privacy Policy, not duplicated here.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. Continued use after a material change constitutes acceptance of the new terms; if you don't agree, stop using the service and contact us to close your account.
A note on this document's status
This is a real, substantive draft — written to actually describe how the service works, not filler — but it hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer. Treat it as a strong starting point, not a substitute for real legal review before onboarding buyers beyond people you already know personally.
